Pain
Afflictions
of the hand, forearm, elbow and shoulder can be devastating.
Inability to work and play, lower productivity, constant
frustration and depression are just a few of the side
effects. Our hand and upper extremities specialist
is fellowship trained in hand surgery. He has extensive
experience with chronic problems such as Carpal Tunnel
Syndrome as well as emergency procedures for fractures,
compound fractures, traumatic amputations, nerve reattachment
and more.
Minimally
Invasive Treatment
Some
treatment plans might include blood tests to confirm
a diagnosis for a chronic problem. Studies of nerve
functions such as electromyography (EMG) or nerve
conduction testing (NCT) can also help confirm a diagnosis.
Actual treatment might involve activity modification,
wrist splints or slings, and injection of anti-inflammatory
steroids. Depending on the type of injury, physical
therapy might be indicated. If required, surgery is
performed either under a local or general anesthetic.
